In January 2022, Clarendon County native Johnson James launched his first insurance agency. As of August 2021, James was previously employed full-time at the State Farm Agency. On Thursday, February 3, at 4:30 p.m., there will be an official ribbon cutting for his new agency, which is located at 412 N Brooks St, Manning, SC 29102.
The agency is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with after-hours appointments available for those in need.
James grew up in Manning, South Carolina. He attended high school at Laurence Manning Academy and continued his education at the University of South Carolina, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Management degree in 2010. He moved to Sumter, SC after graduating from USC to begin his professional career. After that he returned to Colombia for a few years before finally returning to his hometown, something he had always wanted to do, where he has now set up his own agency and he and his wife will be raising their children.
When you decide to open your own agency, you have to go through many interviews. You must be fully licensed in the state of South Carolina. In addition to numerous training programs and to be qualified for the life, health and property of victims.
“I had been looking for an opportunity to return to Manning since graduating,” James explained. “This opportunity came up, and it was an opportunity for me to relocate and come back to where we came from.”
Some of James’ goals and plans for his agency include continuing to serve the public while maintaining State Farm’s name and stability in the community and ensuring families are protected. State Farm is well known for ensuring and protecting the safety of its consumers. This is what James intends to maintain for all residents who wish to be insured.
The main thing is to continue to take care of our policyholders, present and future. And also continue to be an asset to the community in which we serve,” James said.
James loves the County of Clarendon community, the atmosphere, the lake and the safe environment in which he and his wife are raising their children. As the town grows, more and more people show up to help out in times of need.
